Anac creates experimental regulatory environment for innovation in aviation

Last month, the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac) approved the creation of an experimental regulatory environment aimed at fostering the development of new technologies in the aviation sector. The initiative, also known as a regulatory sandbox, will allow companies to test innovative solutions under real operating conditions, but with oversight and specific rules established by the Agency.

The model enables projects to be carried out for a limited time, in a safe space to evaluate technologies that are not yet contemplated by current regulations. The goal is to reduce initial regulatory barriers while ensuring safety and continuous monitoring.

Project selection may occur either through public calls launched by Anac or through proposals submitted directly by interested parties. The regulation was shaped with broad public participation and received over one hundred contributions during a public consultation held in 2024.

With this measure, the expectation is that the aviation sector in Brazil will gain greater agility in incorporating innovations, facilitating both the updating of regulations and the introduction of new technological solutions in the market.
