Civil Code Commission concludes debates focused on property and contracts

The Senate’s Temporary Commission for Civil Code Reform (CTCivil) held its 18th and final public hearing on May 14, covering property law and business law topics under Bill 4/2025. Participants stressed the need to preserve legal certainty in matters such as fiduciary alienation, investment funds, credit, and contracts, warning that hasty changes could undermine investment and the business environment. With hearings concluded, the commission moves toward drafting the final report, with a Senate floor vote expected in June 2026.
