Record production reinforces Brazil’s offshore capacity requirements

Brazilian oil and natural gas production reached a new record in June, with combined output exceeding 5.8 million barrels of oil equivalent per day.

Oil production alone reached approximately 4.47 million barrels per day, while the pre-salt accounted for more than 80% of total national production.

Market Impact

Continued production growth strengthens demand for:

  • FPSO and production-support services
  • offshore support vessels
  • subsea inspection and maintenance
  • crude storage and export infrastructure
  • tanker capacity and maritime logistics

The record also reinforces the strategic importance of maintaining sufficient offshore and port capacity as new production units enter operation.

Legal & Contractual Implications

Growing production may increase the importance of:

  • long-term vessel and logistics contracts
  • terminal and export access arrangements
  • operational performance requirements
  • allocation of availability and delay risks
  • regulatory and environmental compliance across the offshore supply chain
