ANATEL requires registration of radio equipment on medium and large-sized vessels

The National Telecommunications Agency (ANATEL) has announced that owners of medium- and large-sized vessels must now register newly installed maritime radio equipment through its digital platform, “Mosaico.”

This requirement applies to equipment integrated into the Maritime Mobile Service (MMS) system, enabling communication between vessels and coastal stations to enhance operational coordination, navigation assistance, and maritime safety.

An ANATEL counselor emphasized the importance of the measure and confirmed that support will be provided through state-capital offices and the agency’s helpline.

The initiative underscores ANATEL’s growing regulatory focus on maritime communication security and reinforces Brazil’s broader compliance framework for maritime operators.
