Chamber committee approves new governance rules to combat financial fraud and money laundering

The Public Security Committee approved a substitute bill to Bill 1515/26 allowing the preventive suspension of activities and the freezing of assets upon evidence of fraud or money laundering, subject to a court decision within 24 hours. The text requires banks and payment institutions to adopt governance, audit and anti-money-laundering policies, under the penalties of Law No. 13,506/17.
