On September 9, the Constitution, Justice and Citizenship Committee of the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies approved Bill No. 3,757/2020, which regulates the activity of logistics operators — currently not governed by any statute — defining logistics operations as an integrated business activity comprising transport, warehousing and inventory management. The text provides that the operator is liable to its counterparties for direct damages caused by its employees, removes the right to retain goods in the event of late payment and deletes the provision on the time limit for damage claims under logistics operation agreements. Approved on a conclusive basis, the bill proceeds to the Federal Senate unless an appeal to the floor is filed.
