Brazilian government publishes decrees updating Marco Civil da Internet rules and strengthens protection for women in the digital environment

The Brazilian Government published, in today’s edition of the Official Gazette (Thursday, May 21), two decrees signed by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva updating the regulatory framework of the Marco Civil da Internet and establishing new guidelines for the protection of women in the digital environment. The measures detail the obligations applicable to internet application providers, strengthen mechanisms to prevent and mitigate the mass circulation of criminal content, and expand user protections, particularly for women who are victims of online violence.
